The ancient time of Fu Xi, there was a wonderful horse swam on the Meng River, and carried up a secret picture on the back, this picture called He Tu(河图); later in the time of Da Yu governed water, there was a wonderful tortoise swam on the Luo Shui, its back carried another secret picture, this picture called Luo Shu(洛书). He Tu and Luo Shu be considered as a epitome of the universe and nature of operation since long ago, and seems to containing the basic rule of universe and nature. In general, He Tu be considered as a reflection of heaven and spirit realm, represents the nature and general reason of things; Luo Shu be considered as a reflection of earth and substantial realm, represents the operation and effect of things. He Tu and Luo Shu very profound, here briefly do some explanation.

He Tu
He Tu parts five position of east , west, south, north, centre, each position be constituted by two group of even number and uneven number, white point represent Yang, black point represent Yin, it means anything all be made up by Yin and Yang. He Tu possesses Wu Xing concept, north 1,6 represent water, east 3,8 represent wood, south 4,9 represent fire, west 2,7 represent metal, centre 5,10 represent earth, five kind of natural matter growing up each other circularly by the clockwise, north water growing east wood, east wood growing south fire, south fire growing centre earth, centre earth growing west metal, west metal growing north water again. White point also represent heaven, call heaven number, 1 3 5 7 9 amount to 25; black point also represent earth, call earth number, 2 4 6 8 10 amount to 30. earth and heaven number amount to 55, call number of heaven and earth. Opposite Yang number add up to 10, opposite Yin number add up to 10, horizontal number amount to 35, vertical number amount to 35, it means Yin and Yang under the state of opposition, integration, and shifting balance.
Luo Shu
Luo Shu should be from He Tu, there is no 10 in Luo Shu, means to start something but no end, has unlimited vitality. Luo Shu expands five position to nine , 1 3 7 9 are Yang number, separately place on north, east, west, south of four straight position; 2 4 6 8 are Yin number, separately place on southwest, southeast, northwest, northeast of four corner position, five place on centre. Yang and Yin number stand alone each other, 16,27, 38, 49 are next but different position. Uneven number are opposite in four straight position, even number are opposite in four corner position. Amount of three number of horizontal, vertical and diagonal all are 15, amount of two opposite number all are 10, it means that Yin and Yang under the state of opposition, unification, alternation and shifting balance. Yang number 1 on north, means yang Qi start on north, revolve along the clockwise, 3 on east means Yang Qi growing, 9 on south means Yang Qi reach strongest state, 7 on west means Yang Qi decline; Yin number 2 on northwest means Yin Qi start, revolve along the anti-clockwise, 4 on southeast means Yin Qi growing, 8 on northeast means Yin Qi reach strongest state,

6 on northwest means Yin Qi decline. It is a reverse S line if join number 1 3 5 7 9, it is a right S line if join number 2 4 5 6 8, the cross point is centre 5. among the number, 1 represents water, 3 4 represent wood, 9 represents fire, 2 5 8 represent earth, 7 6 represent metal, five kind of natural matter operating under the state of opposition and unification. In Luo Shu, if operating in order of 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9, it will be make a jumping curve, some scholars think it describes a rule of the information change on the background of time and space. The number arrangement of Luo Shu is complete agreeable with Hou Tian Ba Gua, actually Luo Shu contains Huo Tian Ba Gua.
